Turing Registry TR-10215 · condition of license

Notice of replica status

The Rosen Owl is a replica. It is not, and has never been, a living bird.

The condition

The Rosen Owl is licensed by the Turing Registry as an ornithological replica, filing TR-10215, on one condition: that it be identified as a replica whenever it is displayed in public. The house asked for the license, and accepts the condition gladly.

How it is met

  • A plaque reading Replica is fixed to the front of the Owl’s stand and is never removed or covered.
  • The attendant in the Salon says that the Owl is a replica at the start of every Thursday evening, and again to any guest who arrives late.
  • The Owl’s certificate of provenance, which declares it a made thing, is shown open beside it.
  • Every page of this website that describes the Owl says that it is a replica, as this one does.
  • Every photograph the house permits of the Owl must show the plaque.

This notice

This notice is published to meet the condition on this website, and to make it plain to anyone who arrives here from a photograph, a description or a rumor that the bird they have heard about was made in the Atelier between 2008 and 2019 by thirty-one people, all of whom are named.
