For keepers

Register as a keeper

Registration is free and lasts for as long as you keep the piece. You will need its certificate number, which is engraved on the base of every piece made since 1979 and written on the first page of every certificate.

Before you begin

The house keeps its register on paper, in the Provenance Office, and registers keepers by hand. This page checks the certificate number against the public index of the Register and prepares the registration for you to send; it does not send anything itself. Keeper Services confirms every registration by email, and by letter if you ask.

  • New registrations of the Penfield Mk IV are paused while its license is suspended. Keepers already registered remain registered. If an instrument has come to you from another keeper, write to penfield@rosenassociation.org.
  • Nexus-6 units cannot be registered. If you hold papers for one, write to the Recall Office.
  • Heritage pieces made before 1979 can be registered here; the Archive may write to you for photographs of the marks.

Notices

The house writes to registered keepers only about their pieces. It does not share the register, and it keeps no record of how a piece is used.
